Cold Snap (2010)

Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, gold leaf and gold thread.

I think they called this on the radio "proper old fashioned snow" – the kind that doesn't immediately transform into brown slush, but stayed put, thick and white despite the incredible blue skies. The painting is from such a day in January of 2010 and I've tried to capture the strong sun and the intense cold in the limited colour palette.
