Daphne and I (Daphne is my little yellow Fiat 500) went on a drawing minibreak to North Yorkshire in the summer, while my family were all away. I took in Kilburn (where I got chased by dogs) and spent the evening and the night in Helmsley. It was a beautifully warm July evening and the pale stone walls had been warmed by the sun. I stopped to draw the allotments because the vivid oranges of the flowers and the runner beans echoed the terracotta tiles. It was very still and I could hear only the bees.
