Easby to Richmond

Easby to Richmond (2022)

Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, 23 carat gold leaf and gold thread.

Painted for 'Whispering Ruins' – an exhibition of paintings based on North Yorkshire Abbeys at Chantry House Gallery, Ripley.

After a half term spent in Northumberland in October 2021, we stopped off at Richmond and Easby on the way back to Hebden Bridge. It was wildly windy in the abbey grounds – one of those Yorkshire days of fast changing skies. I left everyone playing hide and seek and walked up the road for the view above, over the ruins across to Richmond. The beech trees were glowing orange in the sun, and the light was catching Richmond Castle.

Available as a signed limited edition print, hand-finished with gold leaf and gold thread. All prints are mounted and can be posted, unless purchased framed.

Finished dimensions: 75cm x 59cm
