Frozen Oak at Blake Dean (2021)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, loose pigment, collage, gold thread, 23 carat gold leaf
Painted as part of The Nightingale Project: a series of trees and nature inspired by lock down in The Calder Valley from March 2020 to March 2021 (and the brief escapes from it over the summer).
A stubby little oak perched above the river at Blake Bean on a freezing February morning. Beech leaves and oak leaves, edged with white frost, tiled the ground beneath it. I stopped very briefly to draw it on an early morning run. I could manage only about 2 minutes without my gloves on!
Available as a signed limited edition print, hand-finished with gold leaf and gold thread. All prints are mounted and can be posted, unless purchased framed.
Finished dimensions: 35cm x 40.5cm
