Newby Hall

Newby Hall (2019)

Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, coloured pencil, pastel, gold leaf and gold thread.

Painted for ‘Catching the Light', a solo exhibition at Chantry House Gallery.

Newby Hall, North Yorkshire. I tried to get as many different sections of the formal garden into this painting as I could. There’s Sylvia’s Garden under that beautiful big Scotts Pine. Beneath it is a Dogwood tree in blossom; Newby has a huge collection of Dogwoods. Then there’s the enclosed Summer Garden to the left of the herbaceous border and path to the house. The Autumn Garden on the right. I failed to get in the amazing swing boats, much to the twins’ disappointment.

Available as a signed limited edition print, hand-finished with gold leaf and gold thread. All prints are mounted and can be posted, unless purchased framed.

Finished dimensions: 120cm x 63cm
